Essex Onboarding is a collection of dashboards developed for the Essex Council HR department. The dashboards enabled users to automate the onboarding process, access data from a single data source, create consistent visualisations across the department. The current process of onboarding new employees is inefficient and time-consuming, leading to delays in productivity and increased administrative burden on the HR department.

Research
By conducting thorough research, we delved into understanding the needs of users and the technological constraints of the deployment platform.

Our approach involved qualitative research, engaging with stakeholders such as Business Analysts, developers, Insights analysts, and clients. We aimed to grasp the hurdles encountered by new employees and their expectations from the dashboards. This process led us to identify the essential metrics required for their reporting. Reviewing past reports provided insights into their usage patterns.

Interactions with developers shed light on data flow mechanisms, from input sources to the visualization stage. Their expertise on SAP Lumira guided us in comprehending its functionalities and limitations when tailoring designs for the deployment platform. This knowledge allowed us to effectively manage user expectations regarding dashboard capabilities.

Insights
What we gathered from the research was that
• Automation was a high priority as it would cut down time for creating Reports
• Reports were static and did not offer deeper insights into the figures presented
• Data was not reliable as it was coming from various sources
• There was no consistency with the visualisations produced in the various tools
• A small segment of users were uncomfortable with changing from what they were familiar with.
Ideation
Our workflow was agile-based, so while we were working on the flows, we were also visualising low-fidelity wireframes considering the placement of navigation and filters.
Information Architecture
Our team streamlined the portal by merging pages that needed to be combined,
resulting in fewer clicks and a more user-friendly navigation experience.
Final results
Innovative solutions revolutionize HR processes for optimal efficiency. We streamlined organizational workflows, showcasing case movements and progress over the year. One can gain insights into all cases circulating within the organization, providing a comprehensive overview of progress and trends.
